TICE & EVANS return to S.A.

Australia’s premier blues duo Dave Tice & Mark Evans are heading back to SA after taking audiences by storm at the recent South Australian winery tour. This is your chance to catch 2 legends of Australian rock as they showcase their new CD ‘Brothers in Arms’.

Dave Tice & Mark Evans have had exceptional individual careers, and in recent years have been making beautiful blues together.

In 1970 Dave formed the legendary heavy rock band “Buffalo” along with co-founder Peter Wells of “Rose Tattoo” fame. Recording 5 successful albums over 7 years, Buffalo headlined several Australian tours and went on to share the stage with legendary artists such as Status Quo, Black Sabbath, Ritchie Blackmore & Rainbow and Slade on their Aussie sojourns. Along the way, they collected several gold records and were highly influential in defining the style of music now affectionately known as “pub rock”. After the demise of Buffalo, Dave headed overseas and joined seminal, UK, r’n’b/punk act “The Count Bishops” who toured the world with artists including The Stranglers, The Clash, John Cale, Doctor Feelgood and Bo Didley.

Mark Evans is best known as the original bassist for AC/DC, replacing Malcolm Young when the band decided to become a 5-piece, and played on their first four hit albums. He then joined Finch/Contraband for their 1977 recording “Nothing to Hide” and their 1979 offering “Contraband”. He’s also worked on recordings with Australian, house-hold name artists such as The Divinyls and Swanee and was member of The Party Boys in the early 90’s.

Tice & Evans hooked up in Sydney quite a while ago when Mark played on Dave’s first solo album. Since 2000, they’ve had a nearly 9 year residency at the Bridge Hotel, Rozelle (Sydney) a venue nationally known as the home of blues in that city and have recorded 2 EP’s, with their 3rd ready for release. Dave’s powerful vocals and blues harp and the driving swampy guitar work emanating from Mark bring new life to R’n'B classics by Wilson Pickett and Sam Cooke, through to Louisiana influenced John Fogerty, Chuck Berry’s ‘Rock and Roll’ and Elvis Presley’s ‘Mystery Train’. Their sets are also liberally laced with original cuts from their latest recordings.

This is your chance to catch 2 legends of Australian rock when they showcase their new CD (and tell lots of unprintable stories about their lives on the road) in SA this August.

This will be a brilliant, fun night! Ross might even dress up in his campari skirt. (more like the old greengrocers apron)

There seems to be a bit of a buzz happening in the Flinders about this gig!

Can’t wait to get up there. Tice and Evans are really looking forward to it (not so much the drive though). Plenty of Scotch and Coke’s should fix that
