A Brush with Art is on Again! 13th September to 6th October 2008 (inclusive) With their geological significance, timelessness and stunning rugged beauty, the Flinders Ranges have long been a favorite destination. Artists have travelled to the area from other parts of Australia and overseas to draw inspiration for their work, many of them choosing to stay. Flinders communities have recognised the contribution of art to their local economies and have increasingly supported artists with exhibition opportunities. In 2004, a number of the... MORE

Food and wine are emerging as significant industries in the region as people discover the tastes and quality on offer. The Southern Flinders Ranges run on a north/south axis creating westerly slopes that run down to the waters of Spencer Gulf, and to the east, hectares of undulating arable farm land. The climate varies within the region, from Mediterranean on the western slopes, to zero winter temperatures and forty degree summer temperatures in most other areas. The Southern Flinders Ranges area epitomises the clean and green image, and... MORE

Thanks to Peter Cahalan of the SATC. Peter has attanded many regional meetings, forums and the like, espousing his take on tourism. He reminds us the history and stories need a sense of “belonging to a place” to work well, encourages us to delve in the humour and humanity of life to find it. Peter has encouraged many in the Flinders Ranges (and elsewhere) to go-for-it. He also has great faith that there are many talented people beyond the bounds of metropolitan existence, that need to be given a go! SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title:... MORE
Linking posts to a town or place

To link a post to a town or business, these are drawn from the ATDW, all you need to do is tag it with the name of the town or the business. By doing this, any associated posts will show in short form at the bottom of that page. There is a link at the top of the page to take you down to the posts. Note: that the tag ’slug’, is used so it needs to be the default. Say for the town Booleroo Centre, the tag Booleroo Centre should have a default tag slug of booleroo-centre. If there is no tag to match the town/business name just... MORE
