Catherine Britt and Emily

Guess who made Emily’s day at the Melrose, Telstra Road to Tamworth concert?  Catherine Britt, recently put on a great show and spent time making friends in the merchandise tent, promoting her new album, Little Wildflower, where Emily got her copy signed. Training at Bendleby Ranges

Between shots for the channel nine Postcards’ Bendleby Ranges story to be viewed next year some time, sound man David McDonald gives Bendleby’s four wheel drive training track a whirl. While it is a four wheel drive training track it, when not in use, doubles as a great mountain bike short-course for all ages. Join David Wilson from Adventure 4WD on a 3 day trek through the Flinders Ranges to test the new Dueler D694 light truck tyre in rugged terrain. David gives some great off road driving tips for various challenges you may encounter in the Australian outback. This video, though clearly an advertisement, shows some great footage of Warren and Jane Luckraft’s Bendleby Ranges and their Ridgetop Track, which I drove just the other day and I can say that it is every bit as good as it looks in this video! Postcards at Sunset

Last week Channel Nines “Postcards” was filming in the Orroroo area. In this shot, producer, Ron Kandelaars interviews Warren and Jane Luckraft of Bendleby Ranges (Orroroo’s 4WD/mountain-bike playground 50km to the north of Orroroo). This ridgetop rendezous is a favourite spot of the Luckrafts and their visitors to watch the sun set. Hors’ dourves and a glass or two of wine at this location is just “Prima!” While Ron interviews, Jeff the cameraman and David the soundman handle the technical side of the... MORE

Wilcolo Track

The Wilcolo Track in Flinders Ranges National Park would have to be one of the best ‘value for effort’ walks in the Flinders. The 9.2km circuit is listed as a five hour walk on the National Park website, but we found it quite an easy walk (2.5 hours) with plenty of photo stops along the way. Great variety of scenery – the peaks of Wilpena, pine covered valleys, looking back over the Bunyeroo Razorback & a little bit of spring water along Bunyeroo Creek. My Rating 9.5/10 SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Wilcolo Track",... MORE

Walking the Flinders Ranges

Tony Smith, of Rawnsley Park, has performed above and beyond the call of duty. Besides taking this photo of yours truly, he recently spent three days on different trails with me, looking at trails for a possible third guide to SA walks (myself being the author of WalkSA volumes 1 and 2). Dear Tony (poor bugger) and I did the Wilcolo Hike (9.2km) on the first morning and then followed it up with a 35km mountain bike ride back to Rawnsley from the Bunyeroo Valley. The next morning we walked the last leg of the Heysen Trail (17km) from the... MORE

International Visitors Flock to Rawnsley Park

Work will start on four new luxury eco-villas at South Australia’s Rawnsley Park Station in November, capping off a solid year for the Flinders Ranges’ tourism operator. The $1 million expansion will bring the total number of eco-villas to eight (six one-bedroom and two, two-bedroom), with each featuring the same stunning views, secluded location, stylish interiors and quality facilities. The new villas will also enable Rawnsley Park to cater for special interest groups and small fly-in groups. Since opening its luxury,... MORE
