Hello all, I am new to this so please bear with me… I’ve been keen on the Flinders for quite some time, at least since my university days. I remember going there with my brother, doing the climb to St Marys peak and camping out in Bunyeroo Valley. It’s only been recently however that I have had the time to go there more often than almost never… I also have an interest in photography, and again it’s only been recently that I have had the time to get more into this. So what I have been doing is going up to the... MORE

They say when the Dead Finish is ‘finished’ we’re all finished! Dead Finish or Acacia tetragonophylla was one of several species that regenerated spectacularly across Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary following the record wet years of the mid 1970s. It is a slow growing, drought-tolerant plant that can thrive on the skeletal soils of the arid zone. During prolonged dry periods, Dead Finish will drop most of its spiny phyllodes and plants may appear to be dead. Dead Finish is a favourite ’bird bush’. Its dense branches and prickly... MORE
Depot Hill near, Orroroo

Depot hill is actually the one on the far left. Orroroo is our home town, and I’m continually amazed what can be found within 50 odd km. This view looks southwards, from here, on a clear day, you can see the wind farm down near Spalding some 80km away and northwards close to the same distance. Not really into cock-eyed horizons, but I sort of like this one better. SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "A different take on the Port Germein Jetty", url: "http://www.flindersranges.com.au/2008/08/29/a-different-take-on-the-port-germein-jetty/" }); [Read more...]
Port Germein Jetty

The Port Germein jetty is the longest timber jetty in the southern hemisphere, not sure if that is before or still. Fire or storm damaged a fair chunk off the end of it, (can’t remember) SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Port Germein Jetty", url: "http://www.flindersranges.com.au/2008/08/28/port-germein-jetty/" }); [Read more...]
