Welcome to the Flinders Ranges website. It is essentially a tourism website and shows off the many and varied landscapes, sights, activities and experiences that we have to offer in the Flinders Ranges.

Website, Blog or Photoblog?

This website is a cross between a photoblog, an ordinary blog and a traditional website. Following the photoblog tradition (such as Flickr) you can do a Post with one photo, one title and one description. We use the excellent “YAPB” Yet Another Photo Blog, Wordpress plugin for photoposts.

Alternatively you can simply write text input to voice your opinions.

As a picture can say a thousand words, feel free to tell YOUR Flinders Ranges stories in pictures or, if you lean towards writing a short novel, give us an insight into your adventures that way.

Register

If you have visited the Flinders Ranges and had an experience that you would like to share, good or bad, please register and post it.

Likewise if you live in and love the Flinders Ranges and would like to share your perspective, please register too.

There are a heap of categories to place your posts in. Some categories are protected and subject to review before a post being included in them. The administrators of this site reserve the right to moderate all posts and remove, abusive, racist and otherwise rude and/or inappropriate posts.

Initially, we will review posts prior to publishing and will maintain a “G” rating, but once a few post have been reviewed most people are escalated to Author status and so you get stuck in to it! (still maintaining a “G” rating though!)

Content Rules

Three simple rules, first,  the content needs to relate to the Flinders Ranges, second it needs to be G rated, and third, it can’t be abusive, racist, overly sexist, or otherwise nasty, vindictive or encouraging of practices that are damaging in any way to the environment, private (or public) property, or personal reputation. This applies to posts and photoposts. Still, content RULES yea! So make it good!

Criticism is welcome, as long as it is not offensive, and anyone that disagrees may comment to it in defence.

At the end of the day, the administrators of the site reserve the right to delete any content that they feel is not in keeping with the spirit of the site.

ATDW (Australian Tourism Data Warehouse)

The pages Accommodation, Tours, Places, Attractions and Events will show data drawn dynamically (in real time) from the ATDW. This data is taken live, from their servers and is kept up-to-date by the tourism operators themselves as well as various other stakeholders. Usually on an annual basis via the South Australian Tourism Commission. This site cannot be responsible for errors or omissions in that information.

Post Sources

Just as the ATDW is syndicated content, some posts may be feeds from other sites, also, post content will be the opinions of their authors, therefore not necessarily the opinions of the site owners or administrators. We will moderate however, if the content is not acceptable to the administrators content policy guidelines.

Website Design

The site design is by Froling Enterprises, based on a Revolution WordPress Theme by Brian Gardner Media. The original header/logo has be changed to use one developed by Leap Agency in Adelaide and supplied as part of their brand kit as part of their work for the Flinders Ranges Tourism Operators Association on the Mountains of Memory geo-tourism project.
