CAUTION, Drop Bears!

The April fool bug has struck at Orroroo! You’ve all heard of the fabled “drop bear”, along with the bunyip, one of  Australia’s legendary ‘monsters’. This sign turned up this morning at Orroroo’s giant gum tree. Things Missing

I was going camping with dad, I packed a couple of things and chucked them into the suit case. When we got there I got my suit case out of the car. I opened it to get a jumper, it was very cold up there but then I realised that I hadn’t got the right things.  I had only got slippers, pyjamas,  spare clothes and my school sand shoes which got wrecked. But we had fun.   SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Things Missing", url: "http://www.flindersranges.com.au/2008/12/03/things-missing/" }); [Read more...]

Join David Wilson from Adventure 4WD on a 3 day trek through the Flinders Ranges to test the new Dueler D694 light truck tyre in rugged terrain. David gives some great off road driving tips for various challenges you may encounter in the Australian outback. This video, though clearly an advertisement, shows some great footage of Warren and Jane Luckraft’s Bendleby Ranges and their Ridgetop Track, which I drove just the other day and I can say that it is every bit as good as it looks in this video! Looking Northwards over Yalpara Station

This is the view to the north from Valkyrie towards Yalpara. The sky was washed out so I put a blue rinse through it! Mountaintop Rockpool

After about a 45 minute climb we made it to the top. I didn’t think it would be such a climb so didn’t bother bringing water. However we were pleasantly surprised to find a rock pool left by recent rains, full of fresh, clear water.
